Religious idiocy 1

In Orissa's Jajpur district in India, an infant boy (under 2 years old) grew a tooth from his upper gum.

The Munda tribe believe that tooth is a bad omen and will make the child and therefore the tribe prone to wild animal and tiger attacks.

In order to counteract the future horror of wild animals ripping this boy limb from bloody limb, the 150 member tribe were compelled to intervene.

Their solution?

It's so obvious, can't you guess?

They married the young boy, who had to be carried to the ceremony by his mother, to the neighbor's dog.

"We performed the marriage because it will overcome any curse that might fall on the child as well on us," the boy's father, Sanarumala Munda, was quoted as saying by a local newspaper.

They believe that after the marriage, their tribal god will bless the child and ward off evil spirits.

ummmm. Yeah.

The tribe than ate, drank and were merry before setting the groom? or is the dog the bride? free to roam around presumably acting as an anti-tiger device.

Don't worry though, he can still marry a human bride in the future.
