back home again

Set the alarm for bright and early this morning, 6:30am, got the car packed and hit the road by 8:00am. Dad was horrified because he thinks once you get up to start a long journey you have to rush Rush RUSH and be out the door ASAP. Me, I just poke along, relaxed, and stress free. And I still forgot my cellphone charger. AARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!

Here is the beautiful sunrise that greeted me in my parents driveway.
Looks blustery, no? It actually wasn't too bad, probably about 17*F/ -8.3*C

Same view just zoomed in a bit to eliminate the sun so you can see
the birth of fog. :D

The blowing snow looked cool as, crawling across the prairie boiling up and over mounds of dirt.

I turned onto the highway after 6 miles of gravel road to see this
The blowing snow would plague me off and on throughout the day, but never bad enough to stop or slow down too much.

All and all a successful trip, now back to the daily routines. I missed you all. :)

Those are some beautiful photos, I wish I had mounds of dirt to jump on.

Wow! Those are great pictures!
How in the hell do you know where you're going on the road if you can't see the lines? You are one tough cookie to drive in those conditions.
Whew! Glad you made it safe and sound!
Sorry about your charger. Maybe your dad can put it in the mail for you?

Hugs!!

Thanks guys!

Tracey- In Montana, the highway department does a very good job of using paint you can actually SEE through blowing snow, unlike North Dakota which uses the cheap shit that is even hard to see after it's dark out, let alone with blowing snow.

So it takes concentration, common sense (like keep the car pointed between the little markers alongside the road, and brains (if the road gets icy, slow down carefully don't slam on the breaks), etc...

I'm hoping I can get Dad or Mom to drop it in the mail for me. I'm sure they will, they're great about things like that. Well, most things actually. :D

How is the paint more visible. Is it reflective, a different colour, or just better in a indescribable way

This reminds me of a conversation the Mr. and I had once while we were in Vegas. Mr.: Why don't we have the reflector bumps on our freeways back home, they are easier to see at night and in the rain. Me: Snow plows.

Really great pics Fiery, and obviously great driving skills driving through what looks like no road whatsoever :) glad you're home safe!
