8 random things

8 random things about me

1. All right, here are the rules.
2. We have to post these rules before we give you the facts.
3. Players start with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
4. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
5. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.

Don't forget to leave them a comment telling them they're tagged, and to read your
blog.

1- I delivered both of my kids without an epidural because I would rather go through a double-peaking transition-stage contraction every day for a month than let a doctor near my spine with a needle.

2- I waited until I was almost 30 before I had my wisdom teeth out (stupid) all 4 were full bony impacted and it took me 18 months before I could open my mouth all the way again. Thanks a lot you hack!

3- I love to learn new musical instruments. I've played the flute since 5th grade and in college learned to play clarinet, oboe, saxophone, and bassoon.

4- I can't dance to save my life. I get stiff and unwieldly and don't know how to follow.

5- I don't do girly. At least not if I can help it. Me- I'm a jeans and t-shirt kind of woman. Always have been, always will be. If it's cold I'll throw a flannel shirt over the top or pull on a sweatshirt. And if I do have to dress up, I usually feel like a complete fraud. Like I'm pretending to be something that I'm not.

6-I don't drink coffee (caffeine makes me paranoid- more so than usual), I don't smoke cigarettes (can't stand the smell), and I think beer looks like a urine specimen from the doctor's office. But. I do like mixed drinks- my favorite is a Long-Island Tea- the more the merrier. Some people get moody when they drink, I get silly. Everything is funny and I love to laugh. :-D YEAH BOOZE!!!!

7-My all-time favorite movie moment is when they bring the heroes around a corner moving in a line toward the camera. It's a shot they've used in Armageddon (especially effective when you saw the gaps in the line from those that didn't return), the Man in the Iron Mask (right before the last big fight against the king) and in Shrek (as they were leaving Dragon's castle). It gives me chills every time I see it.

8-I would rather be cold than hot. You can only take so many layers off before the neighbors complain. And nothing beats snuggling under a blanket and reading a good book. If I could skip summer I would. Spring, Fall, Winter, repeat. However, I love bright and sunny days. If the days are gray and gloomy I get depressed.

And I'll tag JohnGalt666, and BigTex71. I'm too chicken to tag people I don't know well and everyone else I know has already been tagged. Oh, come on, it's not that bad! :-D

Yes JohnG I know you are between blogs right now. If you want to play, e-mail it to me and I'll give you your own post as a playground here. :-)

I am musically inept... but I can dance. I love the mixed drinks also. Long Islands are wonderful, but the ones you get in Utah are way too watered down.

And I don't even think I own any dresses. Maybe a skirt somewhere. ;)

I knew a guy who loved to party hard. All weekend every weekend. He liked his mixed drinks strong. When he placed his drink order, he'd tip the waitress $1 and say this is for you now, then hand her another $1 and say this is for the bartender and there will be more where this came from.

His drinks were always singe your nose hair strong. :-)

I'm a big fan of the mixed drinks! My hiking partner Thomas makes a bad ass bourbon and coke...I'm kinda into those at the moment. lol

As for the girly stuff...I like it. I like to be as prettied up as I can get when I'm trying to look nice for someone, but I also like to be all out rough and tough. Getting dirty is fun. ;)

The problem with dresses, for me, is that my thighs end up rubbing together. I hate that. And pantyhose really suck. YUCK!!!! And it's especially not lady like in a dress not to sit with your knees together so my whole upper leg gets all sweaty and sticky. No thank you.

Same reason I wear jammie pants 345 dys out of the year. In the summer I suffer a bit being forced to wear shorts and have....*gasp* sweaty upper legs. lol

LOL! You need to go out and rent "Bubba Ho-Tep".

From imdb.com - "The god that is known as Bruce Campbell stars in this film, and let's just say that any morsel of Bruce Campbell goodness I can get is going to make me absolutely love a movie.

The basic premise of this film is that Elvis Presley is alive and not too well. He lives in an East Texas nursing home. It seems that years before Elvis tired of his fame and switched places with an Elvis impersonator. The Elvis we see in this picture is a 68 year old man with a penchant for rings and large, jewel studded sunglasses. Whenever he claims to be Elvis, everyone just laughs at this crazy old Elvis impersonator obviously going senile in his old age. Elvis discovers that there's a mummy inhabiting his nursing home who is sucking the souls out of the residents through a rather disturbing bodily orifice. So Elvis teams up with an old African American man (Ossie Davis) claiming to be John Kennedy (his explanation for what happened to him has to be heard to be believed, and is one of the funnier jokes in the movie) to stop the mummy and save the souls of the residents of the nursing home."

There is a slow-motion hero walk with a white-leather-jumpsuit bedecked, 68 year old Elvis and an ancient, African-American "JFK" with a walker rounding the corner of a nursing home hallway prepared to go kick some mummy ass that is absolutely priceless!

OMG Bubba Ho-tep is one of my favorites. I had totally forgotten about that scene. LOL!

Oh and Fiery, it is good to see that Reg is still visiting my blog. Thanks for the Whoop ass, I hope my revealing him will creep him out enough to keep him away.

I don't like dresses either, much prefer my women nekid - ooh err!

I love being cold, as you say you can always put more on but there's only so much that can come off.

First off, a very warm welcome to Xavier Onassis. Whenever I'm feeling especially fiesty I stop over by his blog for a good laugh.

He had his blog rated and they insulted him with a measly Rated R. It is obvious he deserves no less than an NC-17 for his hardbiting comedy and take on life.
:-D

Welcome XO!

I'll have to see if I can get ahold of Bubba Ho-Tep and take a look at that scene. Add another to my collection. :-D

PR- Reg the pseudo stalker is starting to creep me out. I just don't get why he bothers.

Sean- how can you live without snow? Isn't Australia like a million degrees all year round???? You like being cold...and your women nekid. Ohhhh I get it. Use the ole blogonaut to keep the lady warm.

Oh, I am SO with you regarding epidurals! Even though I am a nurse, and saw plenty of epidurals, there was NO F***ing WAY anyone was putting one of those near me. Scared me to death. Even now, when I've had some other lower body surgeries, they have been under general. I refuse epidurals.

I like cold, but I love summer weather. The less I have to wear, the better.

Mixed drinks or red wine. They can keep beer or use it to strip paint. Just don't make me drink it.

I like all clothes. I'll wear dresses when I'm feeling girly, but prefer pants/shorts...oh, heck, let's be honest. If I could, I'd spend 99% of my time in my riding gear on the motorcycle.

lol I heard what an epidural was, and it was like, you want to stick the needle where? Are you kidding me? I don't thinks so! Plus, can you say spinal headache?(or whatever those are called when they nick the spinal fluid and some drains off and you get a headache. BAD!!!)I don't care if there's only a 1 percent chance of getting a headache that bad is NOT worth it to me.

GET AWAY FROM ME!!!! I'll just do it myself. :-)

Yeah delivering a baby was uncomfortable. You could even say it hurt. But the hurt is completely different than a skin burn, or banging the hell out of your elbow on a corner, or slamming your head into the cupboard door when you stand up.

Delivery "pain" is just different. For me- certainly not enough to allow a needle near my spine.

And no, you don't need to check me every 20 minutes to see how I'm progressing. Tell ya what: when I can see the baby's hair, I'll pull the alarm and let you assist.

I'm sure my nurses hated me. lol

Needles in the spine and child birth those are reasons #2,367,498 and #5,756,321 why I have dogs.

Yes I love using the old survival trick - "honey - we'll have to get naked and lie together for warmth, its the only way we'll survive the blizzard..., storm err....cold change.. unseasonally cool summer weather?

Fiery said...

mmhmm Sharing body heat. Wouldn't want the socks or the underbritches getting in the way of the heat!
