I see Richard's mistake and Reg Golb'...Ohhhhh!!!!! I see Richard's mistake and Reg Golb's subsequent confusion.

Richard, Christians aren't "pro-freedom", and with the list of criticisms of Obama that you present, then Christians should be FOR Obama.

Christians are pro-life which is the equivalent of pro-slavery. And every one knows how the Bible supports, promotes and encourages slavery.

There. Got that sorted. Were you "waiting in the wings"?

Obama advocates greater State intervention in the economy, less free speech, higher taxation, greater 'voluntary' work for the 'common good', threats to those who disagree, disregard of the Islamic threat, etc.

Why would Christians support all that if they are pro freedom?Richardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02479600882274172677noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-583239250485118416.post-810908933951986612008-11-07T11:29:00.000-06:002008-11-07T11:29:00.000-06:00Don't forget to mention all the Christians who do ...Don't forget to mention all the Christians who do support him.

It is kind of like his tax plan. 95% of American will get an income tax cut and only 57% pay income tax.

The country is 80+% christian, some of them voted for the antichrist.Reg Golbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05515713754334477722noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-583239250485118416.post-40324104299196765612008-11-06T15:35:00.000-06:002008-11-06T15:35:00.000-06:00Pink- *snerk* I didn't really mean it when I sugge...Pink- *snerk* I didn't really mean it when I suggested to vote for Obama to piss of the fundies.

I think Obama's supposed appearance in the book of Revelations is an incredibly stupid reason to vote against him and now to fear him as President.Fieryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08681456246185901798noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-583239250485118416.post-30478270713890450642008-11-06T14:14:00.000-06:002008-11-06T14:14:00.000-06:00A little late now, but that's a stooopid reason to...A little late now, but that's a stooopid reason to vote for anyone.Pinkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02487174438094428976noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-583239250485118416.post-9966393305087643742008-11-04T22:26:00.000-06:002008-11-04T22:26:00.000-06:00America was never a Christian Nation. In the late 1700s and early 1800s the Baptists in particular, and quite a large portion of other Christians were opposed to religious tests for candidates for any political office.

Those people knew from their own, &/or their families', experiences with religious oppression in Europe, that for America to have freedom of religion, religion had to be kept out of politics. A wall of separation between church and state was essential for religion! Now it is the Baptists and evangelicals who most want the wall torn down! What was that word you used, Fiery, "fuckwits". Yep that about says it.

What really needs to done is for second wall to be built, to complement the religious one. That would be a wall between the state and the economy.Richardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02479600882274172677noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-583239250485118416.post-39443881268570154362008-11-03T16:32:00.000-06:002008-11-03T16:32:00.000-06:00Well, I thought only the stupid people were voting...Well, I thought only the stupid people were voting for Obama. Being nearly completely computer illiterate these people don't protect the addresses they forward this to.... it could get sent back to TONS of these fundies. Just really embarassed that their are people here in America that think this is a valid "argument". And the very worst, that this is something worth sending to people on your email list.

AARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!Fieryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08681456246185901798noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-583239250485118416.post-10646603091515393532008-11-03T11:47:00.000-06:002008-11-03T11:47:00.000-06:00I sent this response when I got a similar email:I&...I sent this response when I got a similar email:

I'll be blunt, and provocative. Since most of you don't know me, feel free to ignore the content of this email. As a matter-of-fact, if I were you I'd delete it now since no good can come of this reading.

You'd really better delete this

Seriously!!!!!
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Since this was sent to me unsolicited, and since there is no religious test of office of any kind in the Constitution (Article VI section 3), how is it that the Bible predicts the anti-Christ will be a Muslim since Muhammad(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam#Muhammad) wasn't even born until 570 AD - long after the closing of scripture and well after the last large council of bishops (Nicea anyone?)

Read Ch 13 for yourself: http://net.bible.org/bible.php?book=Rev&chapter=13 If there's any mention of Islam in there, it's not from the extant manuscripts, the critical text, or any existing relevant English translations. It's from a deluded sense of importance in all things scriptural or an outright lie.

Is lying about the contents of scripture for one's on political viewpoint a sin? I forget.

I have no worthwhile comment on the 'Christian Nation' myth other than this straight from the First Amendment: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;..." This Republic has always been a secular republic in which any religion may be practiced freely and not imposed nor restricted by the authority of the government.

In short, thanks for mixing bad theology with bad politics. If you're in any way offended by the content of this message then feel free to educate yourself on

1. Christianity
2. Eschatology
3. Theology
4. The Constitution
5. The Founding Fathers - especially Thomas Jefferson
6. The First Amendment
7. Islam
8. The Treaty of Tripoli (Article 11)
9. Reading for comprehension
10. and finally polite relevant policy-based political discourse.

OMG the son-of-an-immigrant might become President; save me deity-of-my-choosing!!! And heaven help me if he embraces the religious plurality that has made this country great - NOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've prayed about this.
